Dumfries is an old town located on the River Nith in Dumfries and Galloway. Well known as the home and resting place of Robert Burns, Dumfries is steeped in history. Visitors may be interested in Burns House, wher the bard once lived, or the Burns Museum. The 'Theatre Royal' was frequented by Burns and is the oldest working theatre in Scotland.J.M. Barrie was inspired to write Peter Pan by a garden in Dumfries, where he lived as a boy.
